Purposes – Article 3

1. ASP Romanelli–Palmieri is a non-profit organisation.

2. ASP Romanelli–Palmieri exclusively pursues social welfare objectives, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant wills and the original founding charters. More specifically, ASP Romanelli–Palmieri pursues the following purposes:

Care and assistance for older people

• Establishing rehabilitation facilities, RSA and RSSA residential care facilities, care homes and any other facility or service designed to meet the needs of older people who are self-sufficient or partially or entirely dependent.
• Organising and providing social welfare and health and social care services, including residential care, day care, outpatient services and home care.

Schooling, education and protection of minors

ASP Romanelli–Palmieri provides accommodation, maintenance, moral and physical education, schooling, vocational training, protection and support for the physical and psychological development of minors in need and minors generally, whether Italian or foreign, who are normally resident or domiciled within the relevant local area.

Priority in access to accommodation, maintenance, education, schooling, vocational training, cultural and psychophysical development, and support in entering employment is given to minors who are orphaned and/or experiencing difficult family or financial circumstances, as well as those who have been abandoned, neglected or whose families of origin are in situations of serious need.

The organisation’s educational and social programme seeks to create the best possible conditions for the integration of minors—and particularly minors in need—into family and society. As a rule, this work is carried out in cooperation with the local service network and in accordance with the guidance of the relevant administrative and judicial authorities and referring bodies.

Through its own facilities, ASP Romanelli–Palmieri may provide educational support services, accommodation, and cultural, sporting and recreational activities, as well as any other services consistent with its institutional purposes and intended to promote the well-being of young people and facilitate their entry into employment.

Prevention of social maladjustment, drug addiction and youth marginalisation; social inclusion of marginalised individuals; and assistance for people experiencing poverty and hardship

ASP Romanelli–Palmieri supports the organisation of productive, educational, cultural and recreational activities intended to promote the physical and moral recovery of people who, for various reasons, experience or have experienced social exclusion.

These activities may be carried out through suitable residential and treatment facilities and/or in cooperation with associations and organisations operating facilities for the rehabilitation and social reintegration of people affected by drug addiction or social exclusion.

3. ASP Romanelli–Palmieri primarily directs its services towards residents of the Municipality of Monopoli and the surrounding local area.

4. ASP Romanelli–Palmieri recognises and promotes the contribution made by volunteers.

5. ASP Romanelli–Palmieri establishes partnerships and forms of cooperation with public and private organisations pursuing similar objectives.

6. ASP Romanelli–Palmieri promotes the cultural development, instruction, training and continuing professional development of professionals and volunteers working in the areas covered by the organisation’s activities.

7. ASP Romanelli–Palmieri promotes and participates in research initiatives concerning social, health and social care, and social welfare matters, including through experimental and innovative projects.
