The nursing home “La RSA” was born from the merging of two institutes: “Monte Romanelli” and the “Vittorio Emanuele II Mendicità Shelter”, in accordance with commissioner resolution no. 1 of 2.1.1932 and R.D. 6.2.1933, n. 306. Subsequently the shelter took on its current name of “Vitantonio Romanelli” Retirement Home with Presidential Decree. 30.5.1967.

The nursing home, located in the former Capuchin Convent until 2012, under the title of S. Maria della Pietà and S. Giacomo, occupies a building of particular architectural value dating back to the 17th century which housed around 50 self-sufficient elderly people.

In compliance with the will of Vita Anna Antonia Bianco, a new wing was built, which came into operation in 2012.
The modern building, built according to the latest authorization requirements for a RSA, has 28 beds and is managed by the Cooperativa Progetto Vita.
